I've been in a creative vortex and I've quite liked it here. It's been wonderful to turn inward during a time when things have been so divided and even ugly in the world, the world's world, have you. I am not a huge proponent of discussing politics, so I won't, but I do hope we can collectively have more empathy and care for one another - who are we really without one another? As I said, I have been tuning inward creatively, as I really do believe that is my calling, my one true job - to create and share beauty with the world and these last couple of months have been productive!
My podcast is coming along. I've stopped trying to determine what the timeline is for the release and have allowed myself to simply focus on what I want to say - and really, it's becoming an extension of my most valuable and memorable conversations started with other artists, friends and even perfect strangers in the gallery. And I love it.
Our wedding invitations are finally in the sealing and sending stage (thank god for this video explaining how to seal wedding invitations). I found ready made invitations impersonal and custom ones too much of a circus. I wanted simple and elegant, something that felt like us and also to set the tone for the summer evening ahead. They are handwritten, include a watercolor painting and then all tied together with a silk ribbon. The paper is so special. Found at Il Papiro in Palm Beach, made on the Amalfi Coast and I thought this couldn't be more perfect - until I saw the logo for the store - an Iris - my mother's favorite flower. Each envelope is enclosed with one, making it feel like she's right here with me. Planning a wedding without my parents has been so hard, but having very good friends and all our family sending well wishes and helping where they can has been a godsend.

I've made mention of a bigger project to come recently, but I've decided I'd like to make it even bigger before I share it - but here's a hint: Think if the Sunday Night Digest was a place you could visit online and you're about halfway there. Until then, I'll keep these posts coming with all things new and inspiring.
I love this week - LL Bean bag shoes, Parker Posey's new ad for Gap - I have loved her since the early 90s, but wow is she fabulous in this season of White Lotus. Signs things have really gone to hell. Saint Laurent + Judd Foundation collaboration of my dreams in Paris. Anora, Michael loves to watch the film awarded best picture by the Oscars immediately following the ceremony - this one does not disappoint, wow. Plus these photos from our photographer, Sarah Petrarca, of our holiday engagement party.
On the coldest night of the year, with all the trees aglow with lights and glitter, we gathered our friends and our family and neighbors to share the good news. Before the big announcement there were already whispers of a wedding. The champagne and the dress and the notes of the piano hanging on every glimmer of magic in the air. We sang happy birthday to Michael, Patti and Heidi and then we shared our engagement. We would be wed come summer and it was a very merry wintery evening with our hearts so full and our cheeks rosy with toasts and warm embraces. After all this time, he was still sparkling at me and I sparkled right back.
Happy weekend from our family to yours!
XO Kristen
