I met Julia Deutsch this fall through my dear friend and powerhouse businesswoman Kate Brierley of Isoude.  I was immediately impressed by the work that Julia does and her talent in designing exquisite stationery. Plus she cracks me up! It has been delightful getting to know Julia and I look forward to collaborating with her on a big project next year! ONE WHERE DO YOU LIVE AND WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO NEWPORT? 
i live full time in new york city, however am fortunate to have family roots in newport. i have been living in newport for the past three months for a pop-up experience with women's designer, kate brierly of isoude, and it has certainly incited a desire to transition into living here more permanently.

TWO WHAT ARE THREE THINGS YOU CANNOT TRAVEL WITHOUT? 
books, books, books (does that count as three?); bose noise canceling headphones, red lipstick

THREE WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT THIS YEAR? 
the pop-up concept that i launched in partnership with isoude, in newport and watch hill!

FOUR TELL ME SOMETHING PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO HEAR ABOUT YOU? 
i am clinically afraid of the dark, but maybe that won't surprise too many people.

FIVE WHAT IS IT THAT BRINGS YOU THE MOST INSPIRATION?
i think in terms of colors and numbers, which is a very odd combination, but it has allowed for my artwork to be a perfect marriage of my artistic vision + obsessively organized nature.

SIX WHAT IS YOUR GO TO ITEM TO BRING TO A DINNER PARTY? 
i find it hard not to show up with hand lettererd name cards, personalized for each guest. when in a time pinch, one can never go wrong with a chilled sancerre.

SEVEN WHAT'S THE PROJECT YOU ARE WORKING ON NOW THAT YOU ARE MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
i am working on rolling out my first ever stocked collection concept. i would tell you more, but you'll just have to wait to see!

EIGHT WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE OR WHERE IS A PLACE YOU WANT TO VISIT BUT HAVEN'T? 
my personal wish list: materialistically, i very recently (as in this past weekend) fell in love with the concept of a record player. experientially, while i never tire of paris, i would love to explore the maldives or go skiing in the canadian rockies.

TEN WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF CAREER ADVICE? from my most cherished business consultant, who also happens to be my father: you should be your toughest boss. i also believe that when one can turn a passion into a career, frighteningly beautiful things can happen.
